The UNI‑T UT8804E is a surprisingly capable bench multimeter for its price class, offering solid measurement performance, a clean interface, and a feature set that covers most needs for hobbyists and light professional use. It boots quickly, readings are stable, and the overall build quality feels better than expected.
However, my particular unit purchased from Eleshop arrived with a minor but noticeable defect: a thin horizontal line on the display. Fortunately, this line doesn’t overlap with any measurement data, so it doesn’t interfere with actual use. Even more interesting, the line disappears after the multimeter has been powered on for a while, suggesting it’s likely a panel or initialization quirk rather than a functional failure.
Aside from that issue, the device performs exactly as advertised. Measurements are consistent, the interface is intuitive, and the unit runs quietly and stays cool during extended sessions. If UNI‑T improves their display quality control, this model would be an even stronger contender in the budget bench‑meter category.
UNI-T UT8804E multimeter
Details
The UNI-T UT8804E digital multimeter is a 60.000 count multimeter (4.5 digit) with auto range, color display and true RMS measurement functions. Moreover, the UT8804E has a handy function knob which can be used to shift between measuring AC/DC voltage, resistance, conductance, diode, continuity, capacitance, temperature, frequency and pulse width. Furthermore, this multimeter offers functions such as data hold, max/min/mean value measurement, peak detection and up to 20.000 data recording/readback functions.
A very similar 60.000 count mutimeter is the Siglent SDM3045X.
The default 3-year warranty can be extended to 5 years by registering your instrument.
