August 2023 - Rigol has announced that it will introduce 2 new series of oscilloscopes. Both series are compact form scopes featuring a 7” touchscreen and 12-bit acquisition.

Rigol DH900 series oscilloscopes

The DHO900 series offers a logic analyzer port to connect the Rigol PLA2216 16-port logic analyzer probe to the oscilloscope.

Furthermore the DHO900S models feature a built-in 1-channel 25Mhz limited function generator which can be used to create bode plots.

The table below shows the available models in the DHO900 series.

Model Bandwidth Func gen Price
Rigol DHO914 125 MHz No Unknown
Rigol DHO914S 125 MHz Yes Unknown
Rigol DHO924 250 MHz No Unknown
Rigol DHO924S 250 MHz Yes Unknown

The other important specifications are:

  • 1.25 GS/s
  • 12-bit resolution
  • 4 channels
  • 50 Mpts memory
  • Vertical sensitivity range: 200 μV/div to 10 V/div
  • 7" (1024x600) capacitive multi-touch screen

More info is available in the Rigol DHO900 datasheet.

Rigol DHO800 series oscilloscopes

The DHO800 series is very similar to the DHO900 series. It lacks the function generator and logic analyzer port, offers lower bandwidth and less memory. In the DHO800 series cheaper 2-channel models are available.

Model Bandwidth Channels Price
Rigol DHO802 70 MHz 2 Unknown
Rigol DHO804 70 MHz 4 Unknown
Rigol DHO812 100 MHz 2 Unknown
Rigol DHO814 100 MHz 4 Unknown

More info is available in the Rigol DHO800 datasheet.

Rigol DHO800 and DHO900 oscilloscope pricing

Prices for the European market are not published yet, but prices for the US and China market are available. Based on those numbers we can say that the cheapest model, the DHO802 will probably be around €330 excl. VAT and the most expensive model, the DHO924S will probably be €800 excl. VAT. These are our estimates based on foreign prices, so the final prices can differ.

That is very attractive pricing for such feature packed oscilloscopes. Especially at the lower end, the DHO802 is attractively priced compared to its competition.

Rigol DHO800 and DHO900 peculiarities

Rigol DHO800 and DHO900 are in some ways very different from the oscilloscopes which have been on the market until now.

Both series are very small. This makes the oscilloscopes great for portable use.

Another feature which makes the scopes great for portable use is the USB-C power input. Instead of a built-in power supply, the DHO800 and DHO900 series come with a USB-C power supply. The great thing about this? You can power the oscilloscope from a (hefty) USB-C power bank. This makes the scope truly portable.

These scopes run on Android on a Rockchip 6-core RK3399 CPU. Sounds great, but in practice you will not notice that Android is being used under the hood.

Rigol DHO800 and DHO900 availability

We expect that these scopes will come to the European market in October/ November 2023.
