The Hakko FX-973 is a digital multi-rework station which offers soldering and desoldering in one station. The rework station comes with the FX-9701 soldering iron and the FR-4103 desoldering gun, alongside two handpiece holders. This is a professional high-power soldering station with a power of 400W. Three handpieces can be connected to the FX-973 simultaneously, and as a fourth handpiece, the desoldering gun can be connected. The FX-973 has a composite tip with good sensor sensitivity and a design that smoothly transfers the heat from the heater to the tip. The composite element and sensor guarantee rapid heating and thermal recovery. The accuracy of the tip temperature is ± 3℃.
This station features a vacuum pump with a dedicated valve system that releases full suction power after a brief 0.2-second delay, making solder removal far more efficient than with a standard vacuum. The heating element now warms the entire passage to the filter, greatly reducing clogging, while the built-in ACF (Anti-Clogging Function) automatically runs the pump for 1–5 seconds after releasing the trigger to keep the system clear and reliable.
The temperature can easily be adjusted between 50 and 450℃. The station has a highly visible display that shows the preset number, the current temperature of the tip sensor and the preset temperature for every active channel. The built-in sensor in the tip (not included) makes it possible to use auto-sleep and auto-shutoff without connecting the station and the iron holder. A built-in sensor also detects the handpiece in use and automatically switches the channels, while the unused handpiece stays at the set temperature. This allows you to efficiently use multiple handpieces without having to change settings each time.
The soldering station can also be connected to a PC with the dedicated software, with which the tip set temperature and the temperature history of the tip can be recorded. Furthermore, calibration/correction is possible with the PC software.
