This soldering tin is a high quality, high purity tin-lead alloy with a resin flux core. This soldering tin is available in three diameters. 1.0 mm is easiest for regular through-hole use. The 0.5 mm is more suited for smaller joints and SMD components. The 0.7 mm is an in-between size.

This product contains lead and should only be used by professionals in specific situations. Both the lead and the flux are hazardous to humans and the environment. This product is also not allowed within RoHS. Consider lead-free solder.

The difference between this 63/37 alloy and the 60/40 alloy seems small with just 3% more tin, but it makes a big difference. This alloy is eutectic, which means that it transitions instantly from a solid to a liquid, and vice versa, at one exact temperature. Non-Eutectic alloys go through a clay like state when solidifying from a liquid. The practical advantage of instant transition is that when you release the soldering iron from the solder joint, it solidifies immediately, reducing risk of cold-joints. So this tin solders better, for a slightly higher price.
