Different uses for fume extractors
We are electronics specialists, so we sell our fume extractors mainly to electrotechnical engineers, but the extractors have many more uses which we will cover in this article.
Getting rid of coffee roasting smells
If you have a coffee roaster, you probably love the smell of freshly roasted coffee. But your neighbours might complain about the “smell”.
We often get the question whether our smoke extraction units can reduce this smell. That depends on the roaster and the usage.
If you are operating a professional grade roasting machine with let’s say 10kW of power it just generates too much vapor for our relatively small extractors. But if you use a smaller machine, like the Aillio Bullet, our extractors can handle it. The carbon particle filter will absorb most of the delightful coffee scent. Lifetime of the filter depends on usage. When used daily professionally, the filter will need to be replaced regularly.

Extracting nail salon smells and dust
We often sell our extraction units to nail salons. Our units will suck up all the smells which are caused by the vapours in the used products. The carbon filter will make sure these nasty vapours are safely filtered out of the air.
For nail salon usage, it's important for the client experience to have silent extractors. The FE1W unit is silent and powerful, so suitable for usage in a nail salon:

The extractors are mainly suitable for vapours, but can also suck up the occasional dust. The dust will fill up the pre-filter quickly, so don’t use the extractor for all the nail dust of every job. If your pre-filter is full with dust, it can be replaced cheaply. A new pre-filter is less than €10.
Extracting soldering fume and dust for jewelers
Our fume extractor units are mainly targeted at electronics soldering, but if you are a jeweler, these are suitable for you as well. The extractor can even suck up the occasional dust. A silent unit which is more than powerful enough it this one:
Extracting laser cutting and engraving fumes
Our extractors cannot be used to extract the fumes from laser cutting or engraving. The laser basically turns the material into small particles. The amount of material which is normally emitted during laser cutting is just too much for regular extractors. The filters fill up quickly and need to be replaced too often.
The most common way to get rid of the nasty vapours is to vent these to the outside. If venting to the outside is not practical, there exist special extractors with a cyclone. It separates the bigger dust particles from the fumes before the air stream hits the filters. The separated particles are stored in a tank. This prevents the particles from filling up the pre-filter quickly. We don’t sell cyclones.
Mobile welding fume extraction
For steel welding our extraction units are not suitable. The tube and funnel are made of plastic and cannot withstand the heat.
Mobile food cooking smell extraction
Our extraction units cannot be used for extracting the vapour from cooking food. This vapour is mainly and a lot of water, which will lead to mold and rust in our units.
What about the black “ESD-SAFE” version?
When working with electronics, you need to be careful of ESD, which stands for electrostatic discharge. Have you ever taken off a sweater and heard sparks crackling? That's ESD. When you are working with exposed electronics, ESD can harm the electronics. Therefore we sell an ESD-safe version of the smoke extractors. This version uses special plastic and paint and is therefore more expensive than the non-ESD-safe version. Non-ESD-safe versions are white. For all uses except electronics there is no disadvantage using the white versions. It will not start crackling static electricity, it just doesn’t have the special protective paint.
