The Guide MobIR ES2 is a plug-and-play thermal camera for smartphones and tablets, turning a phone into a thermal imager for HVAC inspection, electrical fault diagnosis, PCBA inspection and building inspection. It connects through USB-C, meaning the same camera can be shared across devices.
The thermal camera has a NETD of ≤15mK and the ES2 measures a temperature range from -20 to 550°C over two auto-switching ranges. The 256x192 detector can be upscaled in real time to 512x384. Moreover, the 56°x42° field of view and a 30Hz frame rate suit inspection work on cabinets, boards and installations.
The free FocusIR app for iOS and Android provides spot, line and area analysis, 12 colour palettes plus one custom palette, temperature alarms, and photo and video recording. The camera is IP54-rated and passes a 2m drop test, while it only weighs 31g. The ES2 has no battery and draws 400mW from the phone.
For close-up inspection of small components, an optional magnetic 15x macro lens is available. iPhone 14 and earlier models, and iPads with a Lightning port, require the optional USB-C to Lightning adapter.
