Overall: Bang / Buck ratio is excellent! The xdm1041 is a capable bench DMM at a price approaching that of handhelds.
Precision: I can't tell, as I don't have acces to any standards. Long term / temperature drift: I have no idea. Apparently it's possible to calibrate each range in each mode separately if needed.
Pros:
55000 counts (obviously), even finer resolution in scpi.
display is bright and clear
small form factor (see below) - fits everywhere
math functions
dual function display (see below)
scpi interface (see below)
Cons:
small form factor (see above) - must hold the device to press buttons
Temperature measurement unusable
K-Type probe: within 30mins, the measured temperature offsets by 4-5 deg celsious
Pt100: Errors due to calble resistance at decent to low temps
Pt1000: Not supported
Recorded measurements can't be downloaded to the computer
No firmware updates provided
no sigrok support
Weaknesses:
user interface is confusing, too many buttons w/r functionality
E.g. Run/Stop: Useless,
E.g.: range: Range button should be labeled "Range auto / man";
can't change range while in math mode)
E.g. Dual button (see above) useless: Why not display these rare "dual" information anyways?
Pointless/redundant information on the display
scpi implementation barely documented, not compliant.
Wishlist (in addition to the points already mentiond)
inductance measurement
graphical display of recorded data
log / copy recorded data to usb stick
4 wire measurement (for me, it's not the price but the size why I didn't get the 2041)
Others have mentioned (but I don't care):
it takes a couple of seconds to boot
only CAT I/II rated
doesn't run on batteries (IMO, that's what handhelds are for - see also -> xdm1241)
