The GPT-9600 series Hi-pot testers from GW Instek are high quality Hi-pot testers at an attractive price. The GPT-9601 is only able to perform AC withstanding tests. Many features and a maximum test voltage of 5 kV makes these testers a good choice.
The testers are designed for ease of use, the high resolution dot LCD display clearly shows which settings have been chosen, and whether the test object meets the set requirements. The devices meet the test requirements of IEC, EN, UL, CSA and CE.
When working with high voltages such as 5 kV, it is important that no safety problems occur. The testers are designed to minimize the change of this happening, so when the test is completed or a dangerous situation occurs they switch off the voltage.
Hi-pot (DC/AC withstanding)
Aim: To prevent users of a product from receiving an electrical shock, for example due to a failure of the electrical insulation.
Method: By measuring the amount of current leaking between the high voltage part and the "safe" low voltage part while using the product in high-voltage mode, one can measure whether dangerous situations may occur.
Isolation test
Aim: To test the quality of the insulation
Method: Alike to the Hi-pot test, measure how much current is leaking from the high-voltage part to the low-voltage part of the circuit.
The difference between the models in the GPT-9600 series is explained in the table below.
