The GW Instek GDS-1074B is a 4-channel oscilloscope with 70MHz of bandwidth and comes from the GDS-1000B series. The oscilloscopes in this series from GW Instek offer a lot of value for money; they have a large color screen, a deep memory and a high capturerate. It's not for nothing that they are called the rival of the famous Rigol DS-1000Z series.
With the built-in voltage meter it is possible to get a 3 digit display of RMS values, there is also a 5 digit frequency meter available. It is possible to display 8 measurements at the same time on the screen, it is also possible to display 36 measurements at the same time in a pop-up.
The GDS scopes offer the possibility to perform digital filtering on the signal. This makes it possible to display the signal without unavoidable background noise, or unwanted signal components. The signal can be filtered with a high or low pass filter and this can be done on a channel by channel basis.
With the dual-display function, both the entire signal and a zoomed part of it can be displayed simultaneously. It is also possible to display a Lissajous figure in an X-Y plot.
The oscilloscopes can be connected to a computer with USB and LAN to store the measured data over a longer period of time. For example, with a minimum interval of 5 seconds, it is possible to store the measured waveforms in CSV format to a USB stick or a computer connected via LAN for up to 100 hours.
In February 2016 we added a article to the knowledge centre in which we compare budget 4 channels-oscopes. Here we compare the GDS-1054B with the DS1054Z of Rigol.
The models of the GDS-1000B series differ in bandwidth, rise time and channels.
