The GDM-8261A is a highly precise 6½ digit multimeter with dual measurement displays. It features a lot of measurement and math functions with high accuracy. It can be used to measure most of the frequently preformed measurements in various applications.

Measurements

These DMMs offer 3 measurement modes with different sample speeds and resolutions. For all these modes the devices can display a a variety of measurements or math functions. Apart from two wire measurements the devices offer a 4-wire measurement which is typically used to measure resistances below 100Ω

An extensive suite of math functions is supported in these devices, examples of which are inverse, percentage, min max, avg, stdev. These calculations allow for easy analysis and limit the manual labour needed for measurement evaluation. The devices can store up to 9999 measurement values for easy comparison.

The DMMs support a large variety of thermocouples or RTDs (Resistive Temperature Detectors) to allow for temperature measurements.

Optionally a 'scanner card' can be attained which offers a self contained multipoint measurement solution. The card is field installable and offers 16 channels for voltage measurement, and 2 channels for current measurement. With this multi point measurement device the GDM-8261A can be used as semi-automatic measurement device for logging properties of a DUT.

Connectivity

The GDM-8261A provides USB and RS232 interfaces as standard connectivity, optionally LAN or GPIB can be added to the device. The USB connection allows for a continuous transfer of up to 2,400 readings/s of data in ASCII format. Through PC software this data can be displayed in a graph or stored for later usage. Apart from this free software the devices can also be controlled through labview.
