Macro lenses are very useful lenses for inspecting objects up close. You can buy a macro lens for a single-lens reflex camera, but you can also do this for an infrared camera. These lenses for infrared cameras are very helpful, for instance, for inspecting components on printed circuit boards up close. In the case of printed circuit boards, a macro lens is very useful for detecting a faulty component because it is probably hotter when it draws too much current or colder than expected when it is completely disconnected. You can also use the macro lens while you are designing circuits to see if some components are becoming hotter than expected.
